During Crossing Bridges 5 in Cambodia I had the good fortune to beta test a Sony A200 that had undergone an Infra-Red mod job.
I believe this is Ver 7.0 Mod was done within camera with sensor's color-pass filter ....Shot without an external IR filter..... was told an IR Red would have really kicked up the contrast IR or no IR mod...... the Alpha200 was a pleasure to operate for the 2 days that I had it in the field |

Errr.... Sorry but I've never actually seen you post here before... An unknown mod?

hi Don... the Sony A200 was a beta camera recently modified and I was just testing its zany colors out..... I might seriously consider getting one of the other Alphas given my genuinely good time I've had with the 200..... gotta love the easy user interface |

So i assume the Sony's do not support IR standard? The Minolta's do without modification.

That's not true. Generally, by adding an IR filter on the front of a lens cuts out a huge amount of light and you can probably only take shots via long exposures.
Having done the modification internally, an IR filter on the front of the lens is no longer required and you can shoot at normal exposure times like an unmodified camera. Many CSers had done this kind of modification and you can find them in the IR/UV forum. Hope this explains. |

no..... this unit was mod'ed by Harlim ...... adding a color filter (eg an IR-Red, Yellow k2 , Green etc etc) would have tweaked the effects further...... some of the camera settings like WB etc had to be set and profile saved for those who are going for other effects

I'm not sure what they charge for modification but I can imagine a filter might be cheaper. http://www.dynaxdigital.com/index.php/topic,5045.0.html |

However the amount of light reflected from vegetation is much higher. That is why you see that they are much brighter. |
