If she's into the "bulkier" world of DSLR, k-m (a smallish DSLR) is a good start. But otherwise for compacts, and if budget's not a matter, there're obvious good ones out there worth looking at.

before she had that camera Pentax Optio 330 that you can swing the LCD Monitor. which she like much.
We go to Sim Lim to look for more model. "Optio W60" sale person says this is good for under water shot, have wide range but for outdoor not the best choise "Optio S10" low cost camera with 10megapixels and micro shot "Optio V20" much lighter but twice expensive than S10 , with 8megapixels should we consider the Optical Zoom, is there a big difference between 3x and 5x Optical zoom? A 10 megapixel and 8 megapixel if we intend to print an A3 sheet? thanks |

I have the S10. Nearly sold it off recently but decided to keep it because its so compact. If you don't mind the weight and size, the A40 is similar to the S10 but with stabilised CCD. That would a good thing especially if you do more low light stuff.
I contacted Shriro and the feedback from them is the S10 is their most popular model. Its also the one that received the most good comments from their customers. If you are in the US, should aim for the S12 which is the latest model but not available in Singapore. But beware....none of the compacts, even the expensive ones matches the K200D's picture quality. The other day, I switched back to the K200D and was blown away by the shots as compared with the PnS... ![]()

If you're looking for a small DSLR the Pentax K-m is recommended for the small compact dimensions, light weight and easy operation. The image quality is way better than any compact PnS.
If you're looking for a PnS, there are many, many brands available that I'd suggest you look beyond Pentax alone.
