Did you ask the store you bought your G1 from to order it for you...if they already have the G1 they would be the best source for the 4/3 to m4/3 DMW-MA1 adapter!

In Canada for instance there's a large chain of stores that list the adaptor on the website, but none of the stores actually carry the adaptor and they REQUIRE you to pre-order it and wait 1-2 weeks for it to come in.

Alan Photo at Funan has it for about $240 (CST incl). If I have the Leica 14-150 lens, I will definitely get it.

I am curious how G1 will look like if mount with 50-200mm F2.8-3.5 SWD and how will the performance will be with 12-60 F2.8-4 SWD.

any one have picture to show the curious man?

For me it'd be difficult using a 50-200mm with the G1 without IS or a tripod..

No G1, but on this site which has a lens/body matching simulation you can look at what the lenses look like on an E-4xx body (for a laugh try the Sigma 300-800mm lens):

I had a touch and feel of this G1..I removed that lens and saw that 4/3 sensor..Where is that shutter? There seems to be no shutter in front of that sensor So how does this camera work?

You don't need a shutter for a camera to take pictures, in fact this is a benefit as you no longer need to worry about shutter life and something mechanical breaking down!

Since it's like a bridge camera in that it uses an EVF (Electronic ViewFinder), the sensor has to be continually be "ON" in order for you to see through the lens.

Like a bridge camera as soon as you pressed the shutter it stops reading from the sensor for the EVF, clears the buffer, starts reading from the sensor for the time specified by the shutter speed, and then stops reading the sensor...then it records that image to the memory card during which time the buffer is emptied, at which time it starts sending the sensor data back to the EVF.

(edit) After seeing the video below I'm changing my answer which I'll respond to below.

This clips on YouTube shows the shutter mechanism of G1.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dK6Q...eature=related

However, I still don't understand why G1 needs a mechanical shutter, since it has no more mirror and using an EVF.

Well, even higher-end bridge cameras have a shutter, but most only close when the exposure is finished rather than like the G1 appears to be doing, closing the shutter before the start of exposure in this video.

Now since this video is in continuous mode rather than one single frame, it may operate differently, but I'm going to guess based on what I see in the video.

- The shutter is open for live view mode.
- Before the start of the exposure the first curtain (at the bottom) comes up to cover the sensor.
- At the start of exposure the first curtain drops to expose the sensor.
- At the end of the exposure the second curtain (stored in the top section) drops to stop exposure.
- writing to memory/clearing the buffer is taking place (why the sensor is covered for so long)
- Then it appears that the first curtain starts going back up half way as the second curtain is being pulled up, but then the first curtain starts going down again so the sensor is open for live view (it appears this is a left over when the sensor needed to be covered after the exposure...rather than being able to leave the first curtain down, it still needs to go half-way up...with previous digital and film cameras the first curtain would go all the way up ready for the next exposure).

Now in the video you'll notice that during the 1/60th exposure setting the sensor is fully exposed to the light all at once while during the 1/1000th speed only a portion of the sensor is exposed at any point during the exposure...this is why you need FP Mode with an external flash while using faster exposures, and why you are limited to 1/180 with the internal flash on most Olys.

Instead at higher exposures this happens differently (differences are in bold type):
- At the start of exposure the first curtain starts to drop to expose the sensor.
- When the set shutter speed has been reached, the second curtain (stored in the top section) starts to drop to stop exposure even though the sensor hasn't been fully exposed and the first curtain isn't fully open.
- The second curtain continues to follow the first curtain down leaving a gap where the sensor is being exposed.
- When the first curtain has reached the bottom, the second curtain continues down until the sensor is fully covered at which time exposure ends.

The thing that surprised me about the G1 is that it leaves the shutter open when the camera is off and the lens is removed, but I guess the shutter is more fragile than the sensor.

I am no expert in this but I think it has got to do with the refresh rate of the CMOS. I got a feeling, for the camera to do a 1/4000 exposure, the CMOS has to refresh at a rate of 1/4000 which is impossible since the Live View normally refreshes at 1/60 maximum, i.e I suspect the sensor can only refresh at a low max shutter speed.

So it is easier for the sensor to record continuously and let a mechanical device to provide a peep at 1/4000.

Just my guess

Even my 6 year old C-700 uses EVF and has a mechanical shutter.
