Uses of CF Cards

might sound stupid to some of u here... can i use the CF cards for storing other computer data? read my digicam manual that I might need to do a formatting on the CF card before use & formatting done on the normal PC might not work in a digicam.

so was wondering if I could use the CF card as a portable form of storage. those thumb-drive & flash drive are rather exp

Yes you certainly can! It's wiser to format your CF card before you use it on your cam if you had formatted it with your PC. PC supports more than just FAT16 or FAT32. And many cams only support FAT16. So if u formatted your card with FAT32 or even NTFS, your cam would have problems with it and you would need to reformat it on your cam. Easiest would be to format it on your cam and then your PC can also use it without reformatting.
