There is a reason why the Gitzo costs so much more than the competition.....

Get the gitzo.
Last longest and quality much better. I have a Benro and a Gitzo. Benro fell apart after less than 6 months of light use. |

I tried (bought) Gitzo 2541, clearly better than Benro on workmanship, precision and stability, I don't know how long it will last but people tell me that it will last >10 years. My benro is not bad, I used it for about 2 years and sold it but the difference is clear as mentioned.

Not sure about the Benro but the Gitzo is really a piece of well-engineered equipment. You can get at TK for $800. Pair it with a Q3T and remember to replace the default tripod base plate at $30.

I had spoke to a technician of Gitzo in photokina last year,They have told me that how the benro can be so cheap.
CF material is very expensive, benro get the material in Dong Guan,Guang Zhou,China, they claim they have also 6 ply of CF material, but infect hey are using two ply,one on top and on below, centre is fibrer glass, which is much more cheaper, also this also increase the wight of the tripod. The locking mechanism material is not normal HGPE or PC material, while benro are using PC,it is strong but cannot grip well. |

You expect the Gitzo tech to tell you the Chinese-made stuff is as good as theirs? Not saying that it is, but that is hardly an impartial source of information.

I think you should be comparing the Benro 168 instead as I understand the 068 is being compared with the 1550 ... (if I am not wrong). ;-)
