It was a cloudless evening yesterday 29 Nov. Had a stroll along CCK Crescent canal and took some shots. C&C welcomed.

Thanks for the comments. Still cannot match other much nicer pictures posted in this forum.
I saw the crescent moon at 7:30 pm near the end of my stroll. Unfortunately didn't bring along a tripod and had to do a low level shot on the floor with camera bag support - hence the treeline was too close to the moon for my liking. Apparently some fellow CSers noticed the same crescent on that evening: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=442640 |

I see... Was the moon really big? I dont remember being able to shoot a nice pic of a moon because my furthest zoom was only 200mm.

I used 4/3 50-200mm lens with maximised zoom, set to high resolution and cropped the picture to enlarge the proportion.
Using the same technique, you can take reasonably good shots of the moon. Here is one taken with E510 kit lens at 150mm and cropped. ![]() I was hoping to see the craters in the crescent shot but was quite disappointed they didn't show up. Last edited by tagorean; 30th November 2008 at 09:43 PM. |

Scientifically, the moon does not vary much between its closest and farthest point of its orbit to make significant difference when viewed from Earth. What's more important here is capturing the detail and magnifying your shot.

Wow, those are amazing details right down to the pimples, Giantcanopy. Those would be my 'dream lens'.
