your lens is at too wide a focal length - you need to increase the focal length

Hi there. I also have the D90 18-105 kit and I'm getting the 50mm f/1.8 soon.

I also want to get the Raynox DCR250 for macro and like to know if you managed to resolve your "black ring" problem and also if the 50mm f/1.8 works better with the DCR250? Tks

easy. as long as you got the right lens to mount the raynox onto.

i have it mounted onto my 70-300, no vignetting at all.

does the raynox change the working distance of the different focal lens mouthed with the raynox eg is working distance of 50mm lens same as working distance of 300mm lens?

All closeup filters work like a magnifying glass which working distance is fixed and depend on diopter value.

yup...working distance will sure be much much closer than what ur lens are.

for D90 kitlens...zoom all d way to 105mm to minimize the vignetting..
it'll still have. but u can crop it later in PP.
dun worry.

else..try with other lens.
50mm will hav no vignetting.
70-300mm VR no vignetting at all focal range...(but focusing in auto is kinda hard beyond 200)

sample test shot of 70-300mm VR with DCR250 @ 300mm
