Thanks to Mike Lee for the loaner of his G1, and especially generous of him to also loan me the first few, if not, the first 45-200mm lens.
Here are the images, will talk about a review later on. Let the pictures do the talking. ![]() ![]() 100% crop of the above image ![]() ![]() 100% crop of the above image

Thanks eow, but there seem to be a little tad too much in camera sharpening, but then again, the lenses are impressive in the m43 line up.
I would be waiting for the Oly version instead. Something is brewing. Given the sensor design, looks like you might have a winner for macro. I am waiting for the adapter to come in so that I can test the camera with regular 4/3 lenses.

I am quite a tweakhead, so on that note, I feel that the dynamic range usability is not as good as the flagship E-3, but is much better than the 400/500 series cameras. Setting it to iA (full camera control) yields pretty good results, in fact, impressive when compared to many many many cameras I have reviewed or used. This is by far the most impressive point and shoot I have used. To rate it with a DSLR camera, this is slightly better than most entry level DSLRs. Colours are impressive, with quite a good colour depth that I can pull out more from RAW developers from Silkypix (yes, G1 support is out for Silkypix) when shooting in RAW.
Handling is pretty good too, but is definitely more suited for smaller hands. I have only a "medium sized" hands, based on standard glove fitting. But definitely a holiday camera I would take with me because it is so light! Lenses in my opinion perform better than Standard Grade of Zuiko Digital Lens range. Autofocusing is impressive especially in Live View. All action shots above were shot in Live View. The response of this camera is the bench mark in Live View operation.

Only complain is that this camera should be cheaper, in the S$850 region. That would push sales through the roof!

Fantastic shots. Can you also show us pictures with the 14-45 lens too. I assume those shots were taken in Manual mode. Can you shoot some similar scenes using both iA & other modes as comparison since I only use iA (some night shots most appreciated). Don't have to return the G1 to me as I don't need it yet (take your time). Go do more shooting for us to see. Will try to get a loan adaptor from Panasonic next week.

concur with microcosm and mike on the usability of the IA mode...the only grip i had with the camera is the flash usage indoor with the awb... the camera seemly to readjust the wb to be on the very warm colour even if i shoot in manual mode with the metering set for the ambient lighting.
It exhibit the same syndrome as mine lx3...the colour is ok if direct...if bounce the colour tone on human subject would appear as too reddish.... the only way to circumvent it...is by shooting it at film mode 'Natural'

The color saturation seems to be very good. Shots of the graffiti are real good. With direct sunlight on the colors, I would think the colors would stand out more. Seems real sharp out of the camera (am assuming these are straight out of the came). Again I would attribute this to the lens. I suspect the lens is of real good quality. Does this fall in the same category as the Zuiko standard grade? I doubt it...
