hi!
My friend mentioned to me something about to try to get equipment made in Japan.. One salesperson mentioned to me, all singapore gear is made in Thailand.... Any difference in the quality btw. made in Japan or Thailand? Is there such a thing as body or lenses sold in Singapore that are made in Japan in the first place? Thanks in advance for the clarification |

Only my MF lens are made in Japan. Excellent build.
My G-lens are all made in Thailand, but I didn't face any problem with them (except for 1 time I dropped a lens, later got free repair by Nikon under warranty ).So I think the origin of the lens/body doesn't matter, it's the QC and Nikon did a good job. |

Doesn't really matter... All go through the same QC.
Most (if not all) of the lens you can find for sale now are made in thailand. At least its not made in china. ![]() |

Discrimination against the Chinese people?
Haha but really, Thailand or Japan or Indonesia or China, usually they don't result in quality problems. And if your lens is at a cheaper price, why not?

Actually now a number of Nikon lenses are made in China. As long as it does the job, I don't care where it's made.

I have not notcied any perceivable quality loss in the made-in-Thailand lenses that I've used.
Apparently, they go through the same stringent, if not more, quality control measures... Then again, that's what they said about made-in-Thailand cars... leading to a situation where 1/2 of Vios, Corolla Altis, City, Camry drivers are left bickering about their cars... But yet again, a lens doesn't go through as much crap as a car... So maybe things even out... |

My flash is made in china and it works great. But I'm just glad my body and lens isn't made there. ![]() |

I'm so rich to eat my camera body and lenses when I'm hungry.. Well it may be true that some people have the impression that Chinese products are cheap. But actually it really depends on the attitude of the workers. If those Chinese workers are hardworking and pay attention to details, I think it will be fine.
