Default Frustating evening

Am I losing touch? Has the passion becomes stagnant, or simply rusty skills?
I dont know what to shoot earlier, just clicking away aimlessly. The place was for the taking, low tide, nice weather, promising sunset, but I've wasted the evening away... if a writer's excuse is a writer's block, a photographer's excuse = ???

for some places without anything much to help you in terms of composition and anchoring, you are left to the mercy and whims of having someone to model for you. one such location that i find quite that way is changi beach (the section across the bridge near the hawker centre). there is nothing there of particular interest, so either one ends up just shooting sun and sea (and therefore limited variety), or not shooting at all. i usually end up just appreciating the sunrise when i go there, and spending the rest of the morning massaging all the stray cats i find around the changi v area.

maybe you should try something else, you seem to keep shooting the sky and sky and sky. it is fine, but it is boring after a while, since there is no sense of location, no idea where you have been.

try something new. put something in the foreground. go as wide as you can. in picture 3 i see something you can use. go low, and go close, with the sky as the background. if there are rocks you can even try out DRI, i.e. shoot 2-4 shots depending on how the scene and light falls, and merge them with layers in photoshop. cheers.

Thanks brader~
At least, some words of encouragement; and yes now I know whats missing - something in the foreground; there's gotto be something in the frame and nothing in my mind; esp I've been under the weather lately. Need to get that composure back soon, otherwise my holidays will be ruined!

hrm, the latest series, all the horizons are split frame, i.e. half-half.

do not really work. you seem to be shooting somewhere from eye level to waist level thereabouts. i tend to find myself enjoying getting wet and close to the large rocks in labrador park whenever i'm there.. try it some time, it can be worth it (though your tripod will rust pretty quickly if there are naked screws.. i rinse mine quickly after all the shooting but it still rusts anyways). be careful of your lens getting splashed though.

Some of the shots have obviously tilted horizons, exacerbated by the landscape format.
#10 might need a bracket with a brigher exposure for HDR work. It seemed it only increased the contrast of the skies with a strong orangey red halo

Cheguthamrin how about taking something else for a change before coming back to your kind of shots. Might give a different perspective

Next important tip; Must remember to Stop to Sleep, or I'll never get the true horizon right :P

We're humans after all. To be honest is virtue, and not many of us are; esp towards our own feelings. We keep assuring ourselves that we're getting good shots, only to be shot down by others in critque; sure blow to our egos. Many times we failed to acknowledge that we're burn out, that we need something refreshing, a break at least, before getting back and start all over again. Learning is lifelong journey, no one says you shouldnt stop to rest.

I thank you too for dropping by

is that you at #5? hahaha... very funny.
#9 is good without HDR. but it could use some blending for highlights on the stone to give it a more 3D feel.
we all feel no "inspiration" from time to time. i find the most creative photographers (and other artists alike) are the ones that have a lot of energy.
