    hi there loserow...
are u using the built in flash during the shoot??
    the photos background are dark....
    should try to avoid...
if u are using the built in flash...
try to pump up the ISO instead of using the built in flash...
anyway nice sets u got and lucky to be in the event..

    just my 182 cents worth...

    Thanks for the comments...

I am not a event photographer nor organiser. Am there to cover medical. And i don't have external flash, can only use the build in flash.

Am aiming for the external flash also, but need to save up, and that will come after my 55-250 IS lens first...

My ISO is to the max. 1600. Some photos still very dark.

I had just pick up photography after my wife bought me this camera some months ago, so I need someone to teach me a few tricks and usage of this camera of mine.

Hmm maybe next time u can try to expose for the overall. meaning to say find a setting that can expose for an average between the foreground and back ground then use ur built in flash to fill in for the foreground. my guess is u shot in one of the automated modes?

how did u do it? Is it to meter foreground and background and use the average setting of both reading?

U use the avg metering mode or center weighted. Pick a spot where the light is somewhat in the middle of the brightest and darkest. lock the exposure. take focus then fire with flash. If ur ETTL works. the BG should still be lighted up enough to see sth. Usually this is done in higher ISO too.

Yeah... well said on the flash part

Hmm... you also need to work on composition but since you newbie nvm

Zoom in more for a tighter crop to help viewer narrow their vision towards your subject. Alternatively you can also use DOF to narrow down their vision.

I think you better post ur question in the olympus section to get a better response. Here the thread goes very fast, so the chances of getting a response is lower
Beginners worries about cost, amaeturs worries about gear, pros worries about light hahaha

Shot using the program mode, with manual adjustment to the flash. Tried using the AV piority, but turn out blur... no tripod.
