hi all,
i read about canon's 65mm macro lens that can do a 5x magnification which is sweet and as i am keen on doing macro work for >1X magnification, what is the easiest way to do so with the nikon as nikon and 3rd party makers don't have anything equivalent to this canon lens... no way of mounting this canon lens to a nikon is there? if its extension tubes, what exactly should i be buying and how does one set it all up? please share your setup for going above 1x ![]() I have a d90 and am getting the tamron 90mm soon. appreciate any advice from macro experts with nikon. cheers raph |

For Nikon...
Reversing a 50mm or 24mm on a Model K reverse tube. But this is not easy to find. I've played with a set previously (kindly loaned to me from Skyestang) Results were pretty amazing but it's not easy to use. ![]() ![]() For more info on these shots, you can visit my flickr by clicking on the pictures, they link back to the shots. |

just do a simple basic reverse mount of 24mm on a dx cam, that will give you 2:1 already.
if you need more magnification, throw it onto a bellows.. if you're patient enough.. its not difficult to get 8-9:1 magnification else just use extension tubes, fixed ones, but instead have your camera on a focussing rail for fine adjustment of focus

The minimium focusing distance will be the same, ie distance from subject to sensor plane.
Post one example, uncropped photo Taken using a macro lens with 3xTC at minimum focus, i.e 3X magnification rate in DX or 4.5X magnification rate relative to 135mm film or FF. ![]() Last edited by Leong23; 27th November 2008 at 11:49 PM. |
