I was hoping to get my K200d there seeing the deal that was offered at comex. now only can pray and hope got good deal.

I talked to Shriro the other day, they said they are not participating in Sitex even though I pointed out they had a good one during the last PC Show...off topic I also asked if its possible to buy the Pentax polo shirt won by Kelvin but she said its only for staff...sigh..

sadly, on the contrary, i think Pentax should use such oppurtunities to make the brand more well known to consumers. Their reluctance to participate in such events also show how much they willing to go on marketing. Although by doing so would raise the prices of their products, but it also boost ppl's product awareness (ppl won't go huh??? why a Pentax? when you tell them you bought a k20d etc).
when ppl go for their products, the company would also have stronger motivation to come up with better technology and make more lenses.

I am very sure they have made the calculations. Spending the tens of thousands of $ there to promote the brand will not produce the necessary increase in sales later to cover the cost. The market for Pentax is just too small.
End of the day, it is all about the bottom line!

haha i think pentax sold like hot cakes at the last fair bcos the k200d was being sold so cheaply.

anw i doubt they can sustain consecutive it show/sitex/comex/pc shows with massive promotions.. now should be considered the recovery phase.. unless they've decided to stay out of the it fairs altogether. not sure how much awareness u can generate from an it fair, who has time to form an impression of yr brand while chionging for lcd tvs and hdd

k20d body is 742usd.. read on dpreview abt the wrong price of 200+usd listed! then it went back to abt 699usd (legit) and now back to 740.
