hassy is anothe class..don compare 35mm to MF format.

The MTF for medium format lenses are usually lower than 135 format lenses because it's meant to cover a bigger area and thus the magnification need not be so high. So if you're shooting on a smaller sensor, you will need a lens with a higher MTF to achieve the same sharpness. Another example is the Four-Thirds lenses, the MTF is measured using 60 lines/mm instead of 30 lines/mm used for 135 format lenses.
