i am using this tripod with my D80 with grip and 70-300 VR mounted.
Planted it sideways, and its holding really well. just that when i say tht it holds up well, people tell me i am noob who hasnt been using tripods enough. cos i think they are people that justify quality per cost. more expensive, more quality. anyway if the ballhead dun support, u can change to a manfrotto one. or whatever that you like. the ballhead is removable. if you need pictures or need to try it out personally, can come find me. |

from the specs, look like it can hold.... but do consider investing in a good tripod... it will last for a long time....

70-300mm is lighter than the 80-200mm. It holds up to 4 kg comfotably, so it should be able to hold the 'average' 80-200 or 70-200mm lenses with no problem.
Like I said, no problem with the 80-200mm mounted on my D80 with grip. But I'm planning to change the ballhead in the long run.

why not a benro which has better reviews? I think the best basic tripod would at least be a manfrotto.

slick able 300dx one pro tripod to let go. comes with extra quick release plate( 2 in total) and third party tripod bag. i think max supporting weight is around 5kg. one of the handle is slightly bend(not obvious). still got long life. not ball head unfortunately. original price then $200+. now selling $98 within your budget. selling bcos already got another tripod. this one not using anymore.
