Hi tele shooters,
Can give some advice how the above perform for concert setting shooting? In terms of fast focus and sharp image being the most important. ISO most prob will be abt 1600. I'm currently using a D300. Thanks... |

The AFS 300mm f4 is a great piece of optics except that for focusing it ain't exactly as snappy as I thought for an AFS. For dim lightings expect it to hunt a little. MF might do the trick.

A 300mm f/2.8 will be huge and obtrusive, the 300mm f/4 is a decent lens. Having said that, you did not indicate what kind of a concert you are shooting, and how far away you will be. If you really need f/2.8, perhaps the 70-200mm may be a more versatile option.
