hi, i bought an 85mm from a fellow cser and i noted that when shooting indoors, i have a problem focusing especially when the subject is a bit far... is this normal? or do you think there's a problem with my 85mm?

Check your camera body for focusing. try out different situation with different lenses.
Learn yr actual camera focus pt. not meaning inside the [] box. there are sensors out side the [] box. Last edited by jnet6; 24th November 2008 at 03:16 PM. |

could it be tt its too dark.
if you're using D300 and above. try using the 15 x-type focusing in the middle... otherwise it could be that the the lens cannot detect the contrast like trying to focusing on black or white |

I think that problem of 85mm f1.8 is the same with other lenses on my D90. When you focus in low light environment and the object is plain in color or not very contrast to the surrounding, it's very hard to use auto focus. I also got the problem with my previous 85 f1.8, 50mm 1.8 and other standard lenses 18-55, 55-200. However, I'm not sure about more advanced lens as 85mm 1.4, 50mm 1.4, 70-200 f2.8...
