After much discussion amongst the Admin/Mod team (and yeah, you can all whack us now for the slow response which has led to this unfortunate event), here are the steps that will be taken with immediate effect :-
We will be monitoring the PhotoShoots section more closely for the time being, and will remove/suspend shoots which we feel are bordering on the edge of decency or are pushing too much out of the limits of what should be allowed. Thus, our main aims of this exercise are to :- a) Halt and/or reverse the perception that ClubSNAP is a sleazy site. b) Restore some sense of pride into ClubSNAP as a community which, as some have voiced, seems to have taken a back seat in recent years, partly due to the growth of the community and partly also because of lack of attention from the Admins/Mods in that regard. As always, while we can set down the boundaries and guidelines, we will continue to rely on members to also help us steer the community in the right general direction and we trust that this will set us back on the right path. We are in this together. At the end of the day, nude (artistic, sleazy, pornographic or otherwise) is also a legitimate genre of photography, and by curbing this outlet, we do not want to be seen as stifling the growth of the local photography community. If/when social mores mature and stigmas are removed, perhaps we can revisit this in future. Please note that discussions about nude photography are still allowed (with threads to be appropriately titled and images hot-linked, not directly embedded), we are only banning the organisation of nude photoshoots. Thank you to all members for their very vocal feedback, and we apologise for our slow response to the previous thread which has led to this. |

Reposting as a new thread as my reply was getting buried under the comments unrelated to my post from this thread - http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=439988

Is it correct to say that individuals advertising nude photography in the 'Personal Services Offered' is still allowed?

Pending further deliberation with the Admin/Mod team (as we all know full well that some members will try to utilise this loophole), I would say that personal requests by individuals requesting for nude models to photograph are allowed, as are models advertising that they do model for nude photography.

I like this line:
"At the end of the day, nude (artistic, sleazy, pornographic or otherwise) is also a legitimate genre of photography, and by curbing this outlet, we do not want to be seen as stifling the growth of the local photography community. If/when social mores mature and stigmas are removed, perhaps we can revisit this in future." That's our good old, fair Darren. |

i think it's a good move
usually mass shots tend to be more iffy; everytime i see a photo from a mass shot with so many photographers shooting one model and i wonder just how serious they can be thumbs up |

How do you know they are not serious? If you have not joined, don't speak.

CS did the right thing. Carry out damage control and then move on.

its' DEFINITELY the right thing to do to prevent sleaze in CS.
however, flipside, we will always be deemed such a conservative society. anyway, i'm STILL for what the admins has done as most of the shoot results often ends up with snap shots without any artistical value.it's really like soft pornography. good move admins. |

I support the move to stop this mass shooting which brings no much value in terms of photography.

I don't think you should challenge someone to take it to pm .
In my view, you have started the expansion of the topic to say that mass shoots are bad. When someone offered a counterview, you then said that person was expanding the topic. If you merely said you support the move to disallow nude photoshoots, then I guess no one will have a beef with that. |

this is a sweeping generalisation if I had ever seen one. base on ur statement "mass shooting which brings not much value in terms of photography" all activities in the Organised Photoshoot n Outing section should be stopped n disallowed.

Yes, but did you need to also expand the topic to MASS non-nude photoshoots? Since you did, I don't think there's anything wrong for another person to comment on your comment.
No one is not happy here, don't have to throw challenges all over the place. |
