Agree on the F100. It is the successor of the F90 series. They are the same line.
Welds into my hands, AF is very fast. Never tried the F90. I guess it should be the better of the list ? Ryan |

Hee hee not sure about F90s but for the rest, F80 (or F80S version) is the best.

if you don't include F100, the choice will be F90.
F80 is one class lower than F90, even it is a newer model and have more advance features than F90 |

I can't really remember the order the models are released. But after I got my F80, I don't look at other camera liao. Just busy looking thru view finder and taking photos . Also scare kanna poison again then BBB virus attack. So I am stuck in my world where F80 still then best consumer nikon SLR for flim era.... haa haa And when I start looking again is D70 liao..... Anyway, If I recall correctly, F90 and above are target at the Pro one leh. While F60-F80 is Semi-Pro and F50-F55 is Entry Level.... Last edited by Cursor; 24th November 2008 at 09:39 AM. |

Since there isn't an option for F100, then my vote is for the F80...

Many are making a living with 'one level below the pro body' bodies like D300, D200, F90X, F801, etc... So according to Nikon, they are not pro enough? Yet, there are hobbyists who are shooting D2-series, D3-series, F-single digit and are not making money with the so called pro bodies.

If i were to pick only from the list given on the poll...
it would be the F80. If i'm not wrong, the D100 was built around this model ![]() |

some 2nd liner cameras are so well built, it is good enough for most situation, so many people using it for making living. on the hand, some people getting pro bodies, not for professional use, reasons are many, we may not be able to understand, anyway, that is other people "business". ![]() |

I use F90X and F80 before, tho F90X is far superior than F80.
comparing this two cameras, is just like comparing a D100 and D70. which is newer? but which is better? |

After they prove a technology with the higher end bodies, the technology almost always trickles down to even the consumer end bodies. Then the consumer priced body will force the prices of the semi-pro bodies down and subsequently the prices of the pro bodies down.Last edited by lsisaxon; 25th November 2008 at 10:11 AM. |

btw, recently Nikon change the T&C for NPS members, they classified D(three digit) as pro use cameras, members need to own at least two pro bodies and three Nikon lenses.. anyway, if the price of camera bodies went down, that is a good news to many people isn't it? unless someone is collecting pro bodies as investment..... ![]() |

Obviously, F80/90x are the best among what have been listed.
For AF film SLRs, I would prefer F100/F5. The built quality is superb. The price for 2nd-hand F100 is quite low now. I think MF SLRs have more fun. I would recommend FM2/FE2/FM3a. Other than focusing accuracy/speed, metering accuracy and hand feeling, they almost give the same picture quality if others factors are the same. |
