if u do not make a rebuttal or clarification on the same paper....u actually leave an incorrect image in the view of that particular paper i.e. TNP for this instance...
lol how's my avatar negative? ooo that would be interesting to see if those 2 chinese papers pick up the thread.

To set the record straight - We are NOT currently contemplating issuing a statement or meeting with representatives of TNP.

If TNP were a responsible news organisation, the least they could have done was to contact us prior to the publication and request for our official statement. We have collaborated with other news agencies and authorities before, and have even managed to circumvent publication of a potentially harmful piece of reporting.

Thus, with regards to this turn of events, I repeat - We will not issue any statement or request clarification from TNP as we do not see any benefit in doing so, and it may in fact create more unwanted interest/attention.

yeah their stories are seemingly more hard-hitting than the other newspapers i've seen so far. but then again i dont really read today on a regular basis. just a student who has morning classes twice a week but go even more rarely so i hardly pick up the paper. haha.

but yeah, features are quite commonplace there i think. THINK.

Just accept "Negative" as an unpositive non-compliment.

reporters have to try to maintain good relations with their sources except when theyve obviously err-ed to a point of no return (eg. nkf and the tt durai saga). but thats obviously not the case with clubsnap. so theyve marred the relationship (or lack thereof) for future use as a source of information - hence, they burned the bridge.

very often..they would call the party to inform them that this particular story involving u will be published..and then give u an opportunity to give ur side of the story..something which is apparently not here....a situation that is prevalent during this past 2 years....

After much discussion amongst the Admin/Mod team (and yeah, you can all whack us now for the slow response which has led to this unfortunate event), here are the steps that will be taken with immediate effect :-

    • We will put in place a new policy to disallow marketing/advertising of nude photoshoots in the PhotoShoots section. We note that there is a grey area under local Singaporean law regarding publication and distribution of images/videos taken during such shoots and we do not wish to "push the envelope" at this current point in time to test the limits of said laws.
    • Existing shoots of such nature will be deleted and we will liaise with the Organiser on reimbursement of their subscriptions.
    • We will complete the forms-based method of posting into the PhotoShoots section to standardise the thread titling (as promised in Episode 1 of Sex Sells..) and to "tone down" the excessive perceived sleaziness of said threads.

We will be monitoring the PhotoShoots section more closely for the time being, and will remove/suspend shoots which we feel are bordering on the edge of decency or are pushing too much out of the limits of what should be allowed.

Thus, our main aims of this exercise are to :-
    a) Halt and/or reverse the perception that ClubSNAP is a sleazy site.
    b) Restore some sense of pride into ClubSNAP as a community which, as some have voiced, seems to have taken a back seat in recent years, partly due to the growth of the community and partly also because of lack of attention from the Admins/Mods in that regard.

As always, while we can set down the boundaries and guidelines, we will continue to rely on members to also help us steer the community in the right general direction and we trust that this will set us back on the right path. We are in this together.

At the end of the day, nude (artistic, sleazy, pornographic or otherwise) is also a legitimate genre of photography, and by curbing this outlet, we do not want to be seen as stifling the growth of the local photography community. If/when social mores mature and stigmas are removed, perhaps we can revisit this in future.

Please note that discussions about nude photography are still allowed (with threads to be appropriately titled and images hot-linked, not directly embedded), we are only banning the organisation of nude photoshoots.

Thank you to all members for their very vocal feedback, and we apologise for our slow response to the previous thread which has led to this.
Kudos to the admin for finally stepping in to control the shoot organisers.

Hehe, the funny thing was that in the past, when we organised nude shoots, there wasn't so much of a hooha as in the present day; where the organisers used different marketing tactics and slants today....I for one, didn't encounter any funny controversies at the nude shoots organised in the past

If you regulate the suppliers, and make them more responsible to the admin then they have an incentive to maintain higher standards to keep their earnings coming in. This will also cause the "demand" to move to the forums which offer the more sleazy shoots.

Also, this is off topic but we should consider pushing this community closer together by having some sort of physical presence instead of maintaining everything online.

This could take the form of an exhibition of some of the photos we take. This will help in the education of the public and will give more legitimacy to this forum.
I believe in education, it's a long drawn process but it works.

What I found funny in the TNP article is those supposed gurus teaching pple how to protect themselves, yet we hear stories of the same gurus actually doing the same exploitative acts or even more :P

I had a good laugh over it. Too bad I can't elaborate more in the context of a public forum.
