Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a backpack , that is big enough to store 4-5 lenses, 450d body, a tripod/monopod, and assessories ( wires, wallet, wired remote, etc ) , water bottle pouch and a plus if a notebook could be stored. I don't mind any of these brands: Lowepro, Tamrac, or a thinktank. Recommendation of other brands would be perfectly fine as well. It's just that i'm more well versed with Lowepro and thinktank. It would be great if you could leave a recommendation here. Also, does anyone know if it would be cheaper to buy such bags in Thailand ( real ones ) at a cheaper price? I have saved abt 300 dollars to spend on the bag, but if it's cheaper and better, i'll go for it and keep the difference for rainy days. Thanks for reading my rather long msg! |

Consider making ur dry-cabi mobile with roller on..hah juz j/k. Too much weight even on backpack. Bro, take care of your spine. I'm on lowepro FP350 with a body, 3 lens, flash, batts, accessories and mbp /w adaptor. Darn heavy even with gitzo.

God, you must be Superman. I have one, the Compuday pack, which can store 2 lenses, one body and a laptop plus books (its sort of a school bag) and already I have the heaviest bag in the whole school I know of and look like a turtle. But rest assured there are plenty of bigger bags, but I think you really must go see yourself at shops such as Cathay or TK, because besides capacity there are lots of other factors, like accessibility, DESIGN (you want to look like turtle?) and etc.

Go to shops like TK photo and Cathay photo to take a look @ the size and feel the quality of the bags.

I am using Lowepro CompuRover. Think it is big enough for your needs but I have to warn you it is super heavy. Was carrying 3 big zoom lens plus 3 prime lens, a tripod and misc items for tour. It weighs close to 20kg. Luckily I trek often so quite used to the weight. If not. doubt can carry it to walk around during travelling.

i was thinking of getting a bigger bag first instead of upgrading again when i buy new lenses, heard the price of bags are getting more ex. i only have the 18-55 kit lens, got my 450 in late oct. i carried my friends bag before. really heavy. doesn't even contain a laptop or a tripod. i think the bag itself is heavy. where can find thinktank or tamrac bags actually?

maybe u want to take a look @ the thinktank airport series? or crumpler bagpacks (whickey n cox, or kashmir). However they don't allow u to access gear easily on the fly

Most bags by tamrac, kata, lowepro, thinktank and domke are good. So no one can recommend you an exact model as everyone's configuration is different.
Why not just head down to TK and CP to check it out. Each bag has different utilities so see which would suit you better.. Again, if you are new, CP price tag is "Before the 50% discount" (approximate) so don't come ask why CP so expensive ok? And to TS, with so much equipment, I think you'd end up not shooting much as you'd probably be tired from carrying.. Unless you drive, a configurable backpack that can fit your largest lens will suffice.. I mean if you are saving up just for a big bag, I don't think it will be soon that you get a big lens |

I just got a Lowepro Rover II from TK Foto at $145. Cathay was asking $160 for this. If you don't mind a BIG bag and you're a guy (I'm no sexist but this bag is so big it is only for guys), you can consider Lowepro Rover Plus from TK Foto. They have a really good deal right now. I don't know whether it is appropriate for me to say the price here. Just give them a call and talk to James.
Have fun bag hunting! Denyce
