Question Sony 70-200G or Tamron 70-200 F2.8 or Sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM?

Hi...

Been bitten by the BBB virus. I am considering a fast lens in the range of 70-200 f2.8 to fit my A700. I have tried the Sigma one but wasn't too impressed with pictures taken at F2.8.

Was wondering if anyone has any idea on the pricing (if too sensitive to post here, pm me..) and where to buy...

also, it is great if you can post pictures taken at f2.8 at various zooms as the lens will likely be used at f2.8 most of the times...

Thanks in advance

Can try to ask MS Color, or get the Tamron... But the 70-200 G is a bit soft at 2.8

I think as your budget allows you... the Sony 70-200G is significantly more expensive than the Tamron and Sigma offerings.

it is a bit soft indeed, but i guess that is with most lenses wide open. i noticed an interesting topic awhile ago on another forum where the comparison was made between the Sony and another 3rd party .. can't remember whether it was tamron or sigma or anything else ...

anyway, in sharpness the 3rd party looked a bit better .... but the colors .. ? stick to the Sony ... furthermore, it allows you to get the converter later on for optimal performance / quality ...

Yup, especially at 70 and 200. It's a "good" softness for portraits though.

But the CZ lenses and the 70-300 are sharp all the way.

Never tried the G, but personally, I find the sharpness on the tamron acceptable. And at slightly over a thousand, it's great value for money too!

tamron one at ms color is only available by pre-order.

so the 70-200G is also soft at 2.8? thot it will be sharper than the sigma one...
how about ranking the IQ among the 3 lens?

It's much sharper than the Tamron AFAIK. Well, if you want, you can test mine. Or test the one at MS color or the SonyStyles.

I agree... it may look softer at f2.8 than it is at f4... but it looks sharper compared to third party lenses.
