Thanks! I've edging nearer to getting this camera. Been to the Commex today, lots of cams to try out. Still like this one the most.
However, do you have any problems focusing at maximum optical zoom? There were some cameras there didn't focus (blur) and after a while, it's ok. Maybe I'm not familiar with the cam.. ![]() |

Glad you understand the logic between a high power zoom and hand shake and focusing. Similarly, some dude out there has been swearing that Nikon 5700 and other similar high power zoom cannot focus properly. ![]() |

Wow.. I'm glad this thread is picking up!
I've bought my S5000 on Friday and have been pretty happy since. The 10x optical zoom really helps alot in framing. The night pics out of the camera are pretty ok - just came back from the Chinese Lantern Fest. Where do you guys host your pics on the net? I used to have one on pbase, but the 10MB limit is a pain. |

If it's just one more month for Z1, then I can wait.... that's only if Z1 is better.... ![]() |

I'm going this evening to bargain for the S-5000 before they close shop, see if can change the freebies into 2 or 3 128mb xD cards or not.
If yes, then i buy if no, i wait. |

It's a never ending waiting game.. there's always a better camera out there and sometime later.
Photography is a skill not whose equipment is better. Just a thought! ![]() |

Ahhh yes.. I've got a 10D w/17-40L + 70-200f2.8 Sigma. Very good camera and combination. It's my working camera... it's quite a heavy load to lug around on weekend outings with the family. Very good for taking kids running around.
The S5000 is for the family to use, easy and simple and very light. It takes reasonably good pics in it's auto mode though. However, P mode is better for controlling the exposure. The movie mode is quite fun to play too. unfortunately it's only 320x240. It's be great if it had 640x480 like the A70. Anyway, I felt it's a good deal. I got it at the Commex for $799. Comes with a reasonable tripod, havesack, camera bag, 128MB. You can get the same camera without all the stuff for around $700 at AP. Add a 128MB and it'll be about $770. |

Hi KamWeng,
Lens adaptor/protector? It comes with a lens adaptor (or hood) where you can screw on some filters or lenses to it.
