Unhappy Vignetting??

Finally get myself the OEM lens adaptor and hoya HMC uv filter from John 3:16....

Thanks guys!

But on the next day, I tried the them in a gathering with my friends and found out most of the pics have a very dark shadow(vignet) on the bottom right

At 1st, i tot is my finger.. But latter, i notice most of the pics have it..

But when I tried w/o flash, no more shadow(vignet)... Thus, it makes me curious whether the shadow is vignet.. What I suspect now is the lens adaptor... Seem like it's blocking the light from the flash and the shadow is from the edge of the lens adaptor!!

I need ur advices.. Should I go for the original lens adaptor?

xie xie...

if u dun have this without flash, it is your flash being block by lens adapter
the lens adapter mades the lens longer and wider

i have this on my G5 too, the only way to overcome is to either dun use flash/crop/use external flash(which u cant)

Or maybe i need to remove the lens adaptor when i wan to use flash.. So troublesome

Some of the pics cant be cropped coz the shadow is too big...

Is it possible to remove this effect?

Xie Xie...

Wha! Impressive!! I shall embark on my own project to make something like this!! Oh ya, i'm using the original Adapter. Same problem. Don't try taking macro with flash, kills everything.. Anyhow, i think Canon overlooked the fact that we might use flash with the adapter.. 5ux0r!!! ahahaha Wait for my news! i think.. AHaha

hi octopux

I also have the adaptor with wide lens. the problem you're talking about is documented in the a70 user manual on pg 199.
the flashed is blocked by the lens. it's the same problem for the G5 as well but they can get an additional flash on top to fix the problem.

I'm quite new at this. but I'm excited by the new idea on the earlier post that fixes the problem.
don't think the product will actually be sold by canon soon right?

the adaptor on the Canon G3/5 also blocks the AF assist light. as for flash you'd have to go external.
