is there any way that the 50 1.8 is not performing for you? AF speed, bokeh, aperture?
the 1.4 version is about $500 and the 1.2 version is about $2500 (rough figures)... i'm sure judging from your location (newton, bukit timah) you can afford either ![]()

Difference between 1.8 vs 1.4 i found The bokeh and the USM makes focusing so much faster. So I never regretted upgrading to the 1.4. No $$$ to try 1.2 so I dunno.. =) |

1.2 has a marginal at best improvement over the 1.4. 2000 bucks more for a small improvement, more weight, and bragging rights.

Does $$ warrant a 50mm 1.2 where 1.4 is close to what it can do? Personally, 1.4 is good enough for me. With that $$, might as well consider 85mm 1.2

i love how people reply with comments that are totally useless.
"have to ask your wallet for advice." what the heck does that answer? I've used both lenses. The 50 f1.4 is alot smaller and lighter but it still feels cheap and plastic. The 50 1.2 on the other hand is really solidly built. The 1.4 focusses faster but thats not to say that the 1.2 is slow or anything. Both have really nice bokeh but the 1.2's bokeh has just that extra "oomph" in it to make it special. Which could mean alot if you're constantly shooting in low light, or weddings where you want to make your clients really stand out. Go with the 50mm f1.2L if money is of no issue. |

Do you really need to use F1.2L lens? Or is it just the red rubber ring so people can see that you are rich... |

If you need to upgrade, get the L version. If you get the 1.4, I bet that you will always wonder what it is like to shoot with the 1.2L.

I have used both, and while the 1.2 is more solid, better bokeh, i find that it does not justify the price tag.... should get the 35 1.4L... but if u feel like u dont mind paying that much more for a marginal difference, by all means get the 1.2L

They will reply nicely to their circle of ppl but to others, its another thing totally. Well life goes on. ![]() Anyway i find the 50/f1.4 is a better buy than the 50/f1.2. Handy, cheaper and quality is not much of a difference comparing to its sista. Save the money and get something else. ![]() |

To me, what solar said..., and you said , both have the same meaning.
make me wonder why you can cite his comment as useless? |
