Default Back to CSC again.

Ugh.

My 400D went in on the 6th, and collection was on the 13th. I went there, and they gave my 400D + Grip + 85mm + 580EXII set back and said it was all replaced / repaired. My 400D shutter still couldn't half press (no replacement done), grip's air pockets wasn't re-glued, 85mm calibration I can't tell, and they SAID they replaced my 580EXII hotshoe when my own scratch was still there. Counter lady was all smiley smiley.

Anyway, I demanded that they repair it within 2 hours because I had my graduation night dinner. They did it. So a repair that supposedly takes 2 hours... took just under 7 days.

And now, my 400D is acting up again. The dial just behind the shutter sometimes doesn't respond. My counter to that is to just flick the similar dial on my battery grip, and the top will respond again. Also, and this is the very major part, I was on a shoot at the Zoo just now, and my mode dials were all screwed up. Only the M and P modes were correct. Av mode showed M, A-Dep showed M, Tv mode showed full-auto.. you get the drift.

So it's back to CSC again.

Darn it.

Has anyone ever gotten these problems before?

Cheers,
Zexun

Well that is pretty sad but at least it didn't go berserk during your Prom.
Somebody is telling you to change your camera. And I hope my 400D won't be as mad as yours.

No and I hope no.

I haven't had this problem before. Perhaps, you are over using it. I am curious, how old is your camera? And, what's your shutter counts?

TS I know how u feel about the half pass six service CSC is showing to their customers. I for once also have such a bad treatment. Last visit was to setup some configuration on my WFT-3A with my mac and that customers service guy do a good job setting the configuration but when I ask him to TEACH me, he give me that "tell u, dont know if you know and bring u there is so far" attitude. Which in the end after my firm tone voice he finally explain me the setting. I was like WTF ..... anyway .. hope this is just 1 off case and let representing the whole team.

39k confirmed clicks in 11 months with cleaning and once or twice of very very very light drizzle at the top, usually less than 10 water droplets.

And the new problem is that the above 2 problems are not consistent ones. I just came back and the modes are working correctly again.

Nah. No need / don't want full-frame. I need speed, saving for something better.

Cheers,

Speaking of which, you were the one with the occasional haywire 580 EXII right? I have the same problem. A very occasional full flash blast for no reason under ETTL mode, followed by weird shifts to TTL.

How did you solve it?

True, i agreed to a certain point of view. Thats why Im not labeling any bad service from CSC. Cos i still believe there are some really good service engr or front desk support that were doing their 100%.

Hope TS will get ur gear repaired and back to full operation.

Last time, my 300D shutter button couldn't respond when half-pressed too, went to Canon Service Centre for 2-3 times before I finally gave up. It's time..
