Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone can tell me if getting a bag that provides more space for gear than what I currently have will become inconvenient? I'm looking to get the camera bag as a long-term investment that I can use for years. That's why I'm thinking of getting a bag that can fit more gear than what i have (i.e. one DSLR + filters + SLR + 50mm lens). Will possibly be filling it up over the years. But will doing so make it very clumsy? Will the bag "collapse" due to the lack of equipment to occupy the space? Should I get a smaller bag just fit everything just nice? Hope you guys can offer some advice! |

If you know you're going to be upgrading, I suggest to buy a bag that fits about 1 or 2 more items. Larger bags are bulkier, heavier, and probably overkill unless you use it for other things.

I think a small bag'll be good
![]() you see, you won't be carrying your entire gear all the time, right? I still use the tiny bag that came free with my D50 kit 3 years ago. Though it can only hold my D90 + 17-50mm, it's good & portable enuff for casual snapshots ![]() |

Are these larger bags already heavy by themselves? |

Yes, get a bag big enough to put in other stuff. I have a lowepro backpack that consists of two parts; the bottom part holds the camera and lenses, while in the top part I can put my other stuff like umbrella, book, etc.etc. Waterbottle goes in the side pocket.
If your bag can only hold your camera you'll end up carrying two bags... |

I prefer to have a bigger bag so that I will have the space I want if I needed it.
If I have a small bag, there is no way to squeeze everything in right? Just like I prefer my office aircon to be freezingly cold rather than warm. If cold, one can put on sweater, if hot, cannot take out clothes in the office right ![]()

Anyways, I will opt for a bigger bag to keep your personal belongings. However, there's no point in going for an extremely large bag as you may just find it too cumbersome to carry around. Try to plan for your future usage - yeah, you may chiong a couple more lens down the road but will you really be taking your DSLR and SLR and all the lens out?
