Default HELP:Budget of $3000

Currently Holding: Canon 400 with 18-55 and EF 70-300

Budget:$2500-$3000

Shoots: Mostly Indoor Fashion Clothing and people and Travels

Situation: Looking for a new 40d or 50d, will need to pass my old 400 to my gf, will/might exchange lens with her but the new lens is needed to be good enough to standalone with the new camera not only complement the 400. THANK YOU!

RECOMMEND ME!!!
I will seriously buy the most reasonable selection this week.....thanks. Help me choose!

SIA LA! $3K budget dun nid think liao lo! Off hand i can tell you what to get.
spend $1840 for 50D body, another $630 on 580 EX II, $612 on tammy 17-50 f2.8.

Total damage: $3082

exceed your budget by $82. But if you do not need the 580EX II, yo are able to get 430 EX II at $420 as well, and tt would bring down to $2872... Still got money to get a 50mm F1.8 prime to play also. Ohya forgot tt UV filters too.

honestly, I wouldn't change if I'm still going for a camera with crop factor, the 400D is good enough. If you really have to change, I'd suggest getting a 2nd hand 5D (~$2.3K), 28-105 (2nd hand, ~$200+), 50mm f/1.8 (~$120 new) and the ex430II ($450? I don't know the price). All in just about the $3K mark. Together with your 70-300, it'll cover you for what you like to shoot.

35L costs 2k alone though, so will exceed TS' budget. A 40D + 24-70L fits nicely though, but probably no room for a flash. Another suggestion would be a 50D + 17-55 f2.8, but again, no room for a flash.

Focus your budget on the lens... so that you can get quality L lens. Bodies like the 30D would suffice.

something under 3k would be a 24-70L or a 35L with a semi-pro body (30D)...

Build your foundation in lens first.

Second this suggestion. Buy both second hand if possible and it will definitely be below 3k. Choose the lens wisely....it will make more of an impact on your images than the choice of body.

yes its a good lens for travelling. its even good for shooting indoors as well as it has a constant aperture of f/2.8.

however, i find it a bit heavy for its size.

50D+EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM+430EXII

Any objections? If no, getting tomorrow? Sitex will have better offers (freebies) or not? currently only 4gb + canon bag

Objections from us? Heh, you're the user, you should go try out the setup before spending the cash, make sure you don't have objections I think it's a good setup, the 430 EX II is a tad weak for my taste, but this isn't my setup
