I have a 40D + 17-55mm + 24-105L + 10-22mm + 70-200 F4 IS.
Anyone can recommend what is the best lens to bring? I can only bring 1 lens there(pls do not ask why). FYI, i will bring along my Velbon CF tripod for the fireworks and this is all i am going to bring to Jpn. Place to visit are Nagano (alps area), Nikko, Tokyo, Mount Fuji and the ChiChiba Night Festival(2 hours duration fireworks). |

On your cropped body, I suggest the 17-55.

24-105 is tempting for the reach, but 17-55 on crop body would be more useful imo, in your scenario

I would prefer to bring 24-105L. Because of IS and the extra zoom.

During travel, i shoot from anything from UWA to Tele so it does not matter whether what i am best in or do often in SGP (i only do portrait in SGP) |

![]() Well, i've been to Japan before and imho, the 17-55 should come in pretty handy (I brought a nikkor 18-55 there ) used it a lot to capture serene landscape and the bustle of the city ![]() |

for me, I'll go with 24-105L because of the zoom range, for wide U can move back

If I were you, i'd bring 24-105 and buy a 18-55 there, lenses in JP are very cheap.

If it has to be one lens only, then the 17-55mm.
That said, you're already lugging a tripod around. I'd say go for it and bring along the 10-22mm and the 70-200mm f/4 as well! None of these lenses are backbreaking, but then it's your choice ![]()
