Hi Everyone....
With the overwhelming response to the UNITHROW(tm) Flash Extender we have made the second batch possible. At the same time, ther have been a large number of members requesting for Snail mail OR Home Delivery....due to tight schedule etc.... Hereby i confirm that the additional charge for Home delivery is $3 and Snail Mail is $4 or more . The Home delivery is the preferred mode of delivery as this will ensure that the packaging is properly handled and arrive at the customer location safely. This $3 charge is a one time payment for every delivery. You can order more than one UNITHROW + bounce card + band etc.....and have the additional delivery charge fix at $3. Delivery will normally be on Friday Evenings or Weekends. Should there be any other enquiry do PM me. There will be a delivery for Jurong West and Bedok happening over the weekend....for those interested do PM me. Regards, me |

I am curious, does the extender gives equaly light balance from corner to corner or is the light heavier in the center spot?
The extender is only good for lens longer than 300mm? When using the flash extender, should I set my flash to the longest or widest zoom? Thanks. |

Hi Kho King,
Great Question. Well let me share the experiences during the testing phase of this extender. Maybe the "EXPERIENCE" flash extender users out there can help... The Flash extender uses a fresnel lens which concentrated the beam into a narrow area (Like a spot) as shown in the following photo Hence the reason for its usage for longer lenses (in this case 250m/300mm and above - for longer reach (distance) subjects. Usage of this close up MUST BE AVOIDED due to safety reasons(blinding) and also to avoid blown out photos.... Cropping from the above photo for a 300mm point of view will give you an idea of its coverage. Just like a normal flash.....(dedicated or in build) there is no way you can have a 100% equi-distance light ray incident to a subject. Heavier in the centre....is subjective depend on the lens you use.....if the framing is wide then you may fall into lighter illumination at the edges liek the photo above.....(shot at 105mm). If you use a dedicated flash system...then the flash if its motorised will go to the max flash's zoom(85mm -105mm). To answer your question, YES , you need to use at the flash max zoom to get MAX reach..... You are the photographer, and may have different lighting needs, so have friend also used it at flash widest position......depend on your needs... An ideal extender: The Fresnel lens further concentrates the beam. The amount of light actually delivered depends on the Flash POWER (GN and the actual mechanical distances, design etc....) NOTE the light loss due to wider light rays ....which did not make it to the lens. SUPER big fresnel lens is IDEAL. So hopefully, these info would be useful ...... rgds, me Last edited by sulhan; 7th September 2003 at 11:14 PM. |
