Default DIY Flip-It Pro (Bounce + Diffuser)

Thought I'd do a simple DIY project to make a bounce + diffuser like the Flip-It Pro...

1. Clips (Popular Bookstore - $2.15)

2. Velcro (Popular Bookstore - $2.70)

3. Card case B7 (Note: You do not need to buy this and can just insert a card into the clip)

4. Elastic band

Here is an enhancement to what I just made...

The elastic is 1 ply and may not be long lasting enough. It holds, but not sure how long the elastic would hold up. You may want to stitch 2 pieces of elastic together before sticking the velcro to it, and then sewing the velcro and elastic together after sticking it.

You can ... use the search function here. key words: bounce flash. It will also work wonders in Google.

if u want the light to be bounced off the ceiling then you'll have to do some rotation n adjustment of the flash head if u switch frm landscape to portrait orientation..

anyway i did the diy. popular sells different sizes of the cosmo popclips. they didnt have "7" in stock so i got "4" which has one bigger clip and one clip of the same size as TS used. the bigger clip is srsly way too big and oddly shaped to be attached to the flash head properly, so guys stick to "7"

i used a livestrong-type rubber band to attach the clip onto the flash. geraldkhoo, could u add a photo of how you fixed the clip onto the velcro band? i experienced some side-to-side wiggling and had to use an additional band to secure it properly..

works well, but the durability is a bit iffy haha.

Great idea geraldkhoo!

2 questions:

Can the card be angled? ie., bend forward or backwards? If can, it can be used for the SB400 too.

Just wondering why the white card is attached to the short side of the flash instead of the long side? To reflect less light?

Yes... it can be bent forward and backwards. I'm not sure how the SB400 works as I do not have one... but maybe you can try it out and post a pic.

The reason I put the bounce card on the long side is because I cound not push it in on the short side (which is slightly bigger than the clip). I used the card case because it is more reflective in nature, so you can insert inside a white paper or even an aluminium foil... so it gives different reflective surfaces. You can buy a simple white card paper and put it in the clip on the short side and it will work

On another note, the orientation of the bounce card would also determine how much light is bounced and also more spread out side ways or vertical.

Swee. Try it out for the SB400, and if it works, let me know.
