Hey lomo gurus,
I'll be heading to HK at the end of the month and am wondering if there are any reliable shops to buy Slides from as well as x-processing/scan? Am quite concerned about bringing the slides back unprocessed because of the x-ray but am equally concerned about the quality of the processing there (so i've read in a few other forums). Do you guys process the slides there or bring them back then send them to the lab locally? ![]() |

if your roll is already exposed, having them go through the airport x-ray shouldn't be an issue.
if they are new rolls, you can ask for a hand inspection, but they should be all right to go through the airport x-ray as well (just in case you don't feel like asking, or if the airport security people look like they are aching for a row and there's a long long queue behind you). buying slide films in hk, quite a few camera/photography shops in the mongkok area. i can't remember their names, but do a search on these forums and you should be able to find them. hi, i tried this 八月照相館 at yau ma tei before. it's cheap and does x-pro, but don't expect to see a nice spacious shop like what we see here. the shop's tiny, but i guess that's why they can offer cheaper prices compared to other shops in hk.
address - 上海街322 號祐安閣地下C 鋪 website - http://cia8.com/ for slide film, u should be able to find them at wing shing or man shing in mong kok. hope this helps ![]() |

hey guys,
thanks for the helpful replies! i guess i'll go with the x-pro at "colours in august", don't wanna be stuck at the airport or end up bringing back overexposed film due to the machines! ![]() |

if u have time, by all means can try August or other shops. Xpro in Hong Kong is generally cheaper than Singapore
![]() otherwise, actually you can bring them back also, just make sure u don't put them in your checked-in luggage. i went hk last year, had some films in hand-carry bag, put through x-ray machine, and they turn out fine after processing. ![]() |
