Default Sigma 105mm macro

Hi need some advice from fellow forummers. I'm intending to get this lens for u/w shots.

1) I've read but can't seem to find the thread now about sending the lens immediately after buying to the sigma service centre to fix some focus issues. Is it true/necessary for all Sigma lens or just a few?

2) Is this service free? I've heard that it's free for Sigma lens bought locally but there'll be a charge for those lens bought overseas, negating the price savings from buying the lens overseas.

3) Anybody has any idea the best place to get this lens? (4/3 mount)

Thanks!

Saw some of your excellent UW pics ....

Just wondering ... would your casing fit the Sigma lens?

most of the shops out there do not have existing stocks... you have to place an order for a 4/3rd mount...

when i bought my e3 2 weeks ago from alan funan... they do have stock there (1 copy nia)... if i am not wrong going for 700... i wanna get a sigma 150mm from them too.. wanna go down together to bargain??.. heehee...

John 3:16 has better offer than Alan Photo for Sigma 150mm.

I would need to get another port from ikelite for that lens. I believe the same one for the nikon/canon mount should fit.

1) Not for all. I bought mine second hand Sigma 30mm F1.4 and the owner said it has never been serviced as it is good from factory. I am happy with mine by the way. It is a grey unit (not bought in singapore).

2) Free if you buy from Singapore (non grey). Not sure how much they charge if you buy elsewhere. Service place may be quite out of the way.

3) I cannot answer this.

I'm using the 105mm macro. Nvr send in for service b4. Got it from HK.

As I'm still a noob in macrophotgraphy, when u take u/w pix, do u normally auto focus or manual. From my personal experience, this lens is not a gd auto focus lens. However, I normally shot insects.

Cheers
