Hi!

I'm new in the forum!

If I'm looking for entry level Digital Camera that is <S$300, what are the options and recommendation?

As the budget is main priority, I guess I can't expect too much from the rest, except to hope for a 2M pixel.. is it possible?

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Clubsnap.

Anyway, regarding the camera you are looking for, the only one that comes to mind for me at this moment is the Canon Powershot A40. Should be around the region of SGD$440 but there are members here selling it 2nd hand.

Check out the B&S section in Clubsnap perhaps?

I'm going to pick up digital photography come this year so this helps my sparse knowledge a lot. Very direct and easy on the eyes guide for a newbie like me. Thanks Wolfgang.

1) my budget is S$500-S$600
2) if can get 3 MP will be good
3) As far as possible
4) not TOOOOOOO big....
5) Double A or those lithium
6) hope to get as light as possible
7) YES want to be able to have additional options to get lenses/filters for later on
8) Manual will be great
9) NOT TOO SURE WHAT THIS MEANS please explain can?
10) both Scenery/landscape as well as Macro's and fast motions by my fish.

Sorry for being so "fussy pot" but is there a kinda DC that will fit my budget ? AT MOST will bring it up to S$700

please advice which camera i should be aiming for?

thanx

First of, before you post, asking for recommandation, it would help if you knew these details so that those who wish to come forward with their recommandation can do so with your requirements in mind.

In no order of particular importance;

01. Budget?
02. Megapixel count?
03. Optical zoom factor?
04. Size?
05. Type of batteries used?
06. Weight?
07. Able to mount lenses/filters?
08. Manual controls required?
09. Auto-Focus Speed?
10. What kind of pictures are you hoping to take?

These are just a few basic factors that usually governs the choices of new DC buyer but it's by no means complete. If you have a requirement that isn't stated above, feel free to include it in your own posting.

After deciding which are the more crucial factors, the next time is to narow down you field of choice. This where you post to ask for recommandations as well, opinion of various makes and models if you already have some in mind.

Do realise that here is no such thing as a perfect camera because each will have it's pros and cons and it's up to you, as the buyer to see what you can or canot live with. After reading the recommandations and narrowing down your choices, it will be helpful if you were to go down to a camera shop of your own preference or choice to try out these cameras and see if it's abilities lives up to your expectations.

Note: This is not a definitive guide, but at least, it will help you narrow down your options.

Well, good of you to post all the relavent criteria but you might want to narrow it down a tad bit. But right now, looking at what you want, i would say a 2nd hand Canon G2 would suit your purpose quite well...

If anyone else has a recommandation or wish to correct anything, feel free to jump right in.

Default Pls advice

01. Budget? <$1800
02. Megapixel count? >= 5px
03. Optical zoom factor? >= 3X
04. Size? Not too bulky
05. Type of batteries used? No preference
06. Weight? Not too heavy
07. Able to mount lenses/filters? No preference
08. Manual controls required? Yes
09. Auto-Focus Speed? Yes
10. What kind of pictures are you hoping to take? Landscape, Macros, Night Scene, Portraits etc...)

Was deciding between prosumer digicams like Canon G3, Nikon CP5700, Fujifilm F602Z or Sony V1(in May). Sony F717 is too bulky for me...

Well, the S602 sounds like a good choice,
as well as the Canon PowerShot G3.

Go down to your own preferred Camera retailer and have a hands on to get a feel for the camera.
