Default Nikon p80 vs Canon SX10IS

Hi guys... If any of you could advice me... thanks first.
going to buy a prosumer, but not sure Nikon p80 or Canon SX10IS... Someone suggest Fuji S200HD...

I have compared the specs for Nikon and Canon, still not sure which one is better.. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

I have read about not 'so good review' on p80. SX10IS seems slightly better (of course more expensive)... Any suggestions? Thanks

Fujifilm S100FS is another one you can consider.

I guess before deciding what to buy, you should have a budget in mind first. What is your budget for your prosumer camera? It is much easier to give suggestions if you provide us with your budget.

The Fujifilm S2000HD is one of the prosumer camera around for the more budget conscious which cost about $450 whereas the SX10IS will be more expensive but I am not sure about it's price though.

    Thanks for reply.
If budget is not a very big issue (i've checked, these cameras that have been mentioned fall in the range of 450 - 690).

I'm not a fan of Nikon or Canon. But I found that canon's compact camera can shoot quite clear picture....
p/s: I know the important of using tripod...

You may want to hold on your purchase first. Sony just announced a pretty impressive prosumer.

    Good day~

    First post. =P

Anyway, just offer my opinions on the SX10IS. I just sold mine a few days ago to a colleague amazed by it's capabilities for the keen learner. I'm upgrading to a DSLR in a few days, so I sold it to him on the spot after he used it to support the event we were at.

If you did your homework you'd learn that it has 20x optical zoom. At full 20x the shake was pretty obvious, but the IS would always compensate for it and still allow me to turn out a decent image with it. Pretty sharp, and colour's pretty good. For a pinch you could also fiddle with the digital zoom to push into the 80x region. Grainy at 80x , but atleast i could make out what I was taking.

a little heavy compared to usual prosumers or PnS cams, but it's a fun camera to have despite the weight ( i got used to it really fast, so i dont think it's an issue). the flip screen also comes in very handy for the camwhore owner. =P

I brought the cam on my last holiday to china, and it really proved it's worth for the price i paid (bought it on 020109 for 700$ at 3:16). Video taking capability allowed me to keep videos of fireworks and tons of pics, though if you'd see yourself taking vids alot, get the SX1 instead, but it'll cost more, of course. Recently heard that SX1 now comes with a software patch to allow Raw format on the cmos sensor for SX1. That's a brilliant update IMO.

    hope i helped some.

Thanks a lot for your post here....
Seems like my 'story' has gone far beyond...
A sales person told me to avoid Nikon compact... thus I went for SX10IS when SX1IS not yet come to Sg...

Then I sold it and upgrade to 450D....

    Now the 500D just announced!

    Woa, Nikon Coolpix P80?

I'm using that since last May. My experience with the camera is good.
