* High resolution files must be at least 4000 pixels at the shortest dimension, (approx. 16'' x 20'' size), and must be of exhibition quality
my canon 5D highest resolution only 2912 x 4368 pixels, so doesn't fulfill criteria of "at least 4000 pixels at the shortest dimension". so is this comp for medium format photographers? ![]()

Dear pro_FHM, Redsun and asselley,
Most if not all DSLRs upress to the required sizes pretty well in Adobe Photoshop. There will be no problem in obtaining high quality printing at the upressed sizes. We have printed larger sizes with 6MP DSLRs. Only the finalists will be required to send in high-res files in TIFF format. It is the quality of the image and not the pixel count that matters for DSLRs. Steven Lee klphotoawards Last edited by svllee; 9th November 2008 at 10:08 PM. |

hi steven,
thx for the reply. so if the finalist can't produce a TIFF file (eg. the shot was taken in JPG), then will he be disqualified?

Hello pro_FHM,
All final jpegs may be saved to TIFF format to preserve the file from quality loss. It is recommended to photograph in RAW mode for your camera, then convert to jpeg for submission, and to TIFF for printing. Best wishes, Steven klphotoawards.com |
