But then, why wait till Nov 13 to close the thread? What are you waiting for.
This is how I see the whole thing, and what you should have done in the first place.
I have been to workshops that requires a portfolio review before we are allowed to even pay. But for a private shoot, such open demand is really something out of the left field.
The reviewing the photographer's portfolio issue, you could have just done it quietly. Most of us have a portfolio somewhere. Those that don't, just shovel them onto a maybe pile and that's that. Those that do, look, decide, yes to those that pass, no to those that don't, no one knows, everyone happy.
Jenny and Helen are typical models in the US. Nothing against them. The rates they are asking are typical for the US market, be in on a high side. Most American models will sign releases, unlike Singaporean, and the release allows the copyrights owners usage rights to do almost, and I said almost, anything with the images. So, that factor into the prices as well.
Then, both Jenny and Helen, must also understand the local market conditions. S$250/hr for implied nudes is out of range. Considering that these will not be outdoor shoot, for an hour of shoot, the photographer must also arrange locations, that may or may not be available for such short duration. The cost of the shoot per hour could easily be shot to $350-$400 for that hour.
Too bad for Jenny and Helen, for loosing the opportunities to work with photographers here in Singapore and make some money while coming through town. Too bad for photographers here, loosing out on the opportunities too. End of the day, this whole thing was marketed wrongly.
Too bad such pertinent comments come so late. All the earlier comments are whether they are porn stars, are they really so good, how dare they charge so much compared to local models, how dare they ask for my portfolio when they are asking so much money, how American they will be in suing the photographers if no model release is given, etc.
Alright, that's all folks. **Peace!**
