Looking through the forums, I realized that compared to brands like nikon and canon, people are selling away their Sony equipment far too frequently. Are Sony user just filthy rich so that they can keep upgrading or simply, Sony users just don't take pride in the systems and technologies they owned.
I can hardly find anyone selling their nikon d300, but everyone seems to be selling away their A700s at such low prices, i can even see some people selling off their A900s now. I am deeply sadden.... We should change our mindset, be certain before heading into photography or buying stuff, it is a life long..... ![]() Btw, I am a proud sony user!! |

It is likely that as a Sony user, you would pay more attention to other Sony users. I don't think this buying and selling thing is limited to Sony - it's endemic for all things electronic. Nowadays DSLRs are like your iPods and iPhones, you cannot be a true gear junkie without one...

Yes, I am a hardcore Sony-convert
Well, at one stage I was a hardcore Minolta Man and I was quite upset that Sony was going to makan Minolta. But now, I'm sticking with Sony Alpha. And frankly, I don't really care what other people use. If they want to sell cheap, good for me. ![]()

The current cycle you see is Sony as it has a new FF camera A900.
Wait till Canon 5D MK III comes out and Nikon D3x comes out, you will see them selling as well. I am a Sony Convert. It is naturally in SG that people buy new stuff and sell their old junk away. Some just want the latest toys. It is like handphone as well. When new model comes out some will change their less than 1 year old phone to the latest. Remember the NUS student feature in the Straits Times on " Parents will provide ". I am a rare few who will wait for a while for anything new. If it is better than I will buy. I hardly will sell it off unless and really really do not need. By then, it is too cheap to sell. Years back, when visit 2nd hand camera shop, always see complete set of C or N when N or C comes with their latest model. For them, they go from C to N back to C and N again......... |

There was a time (a couple months ago) when I saw a flood of D300s on sale. So it comes in waves.

Btw, A700s is suppose to be a semi-pro dslr on par with d300s. I certainly cannot find a d300 fetching at 1.1k!!! |

Feature-wise it is. But pricing-wise, it was always between the 40D and the D300. The D300 was always a couple hundred $$$ more expensive. And if you look, 40D is going for 1k-1.1k, so the second-hand pricing is about right.

IIRC, the A700 brand new has dropped to about $1.8k (or even less, brand new). This is not exactly a new model already, so selling it at 1.1-1.2k is about right. And of course, I believe that there may be quite a few rich people in CS who just want to buy, try, and then sell. Not just for A900 or Sony Alpha, but basically anything in general. In general, camera bodies depreciate quite quickly. But for lenses, the prices are more or less quite stable. Take it easy, man. A camera is but a tool. Get out there and take some pics! ![]()

If not, I wouldn't be posting in this forum, and wouldn't have even bought a A350, and wouldn't have recommended another A350 in my house.

are you really proud? if you are, why would you care? some of the best pictures were taken with the most underrated cameras in the world - and i'm quite sure the photographers weren't complaining about how their cameras were being sold at a low price in a little diary somewhere! ![]() |

not price and pictures speak for themselves, not camera price. if one can produce a million dollar picture with a 20 dollar camera; versus someone who cannot earn money with an expensive ten thousand dollar camera; who's getting better results? ![]() |

I couldn't agree more with night86mare's words.
Dun get so work up over the price of the camera. Be it the latest or 10 years model, the brand or price dun ensure u would produce better photo. IMO, I would take pride in my photo rather than my gears. Unless of course if Sony sponser me, haha |

i am still keeping my A100 not willing to sell, it is a good camera and i learn alot of knowledges on photography using this already not in market DSLR. I think it is becoz these pple have a tempt of the new products which had better specifications or performance BUT do not have the money so sell it thinkin it will get some money to finance their new products just like the iphone which you can see pple selling ebay for more than 500 dollars.
For me will still keep my first DSLR as i am intending to get A700 instead of A900 since it reach my own expectation. And A900 though good is too expensive for me. Lastly, i believe all of u agreed that it is not the camera but the person who shoots the picture that make the difference. |
