Thread: LCD TV for use as photo-editing PC monitor?

  1. #1

Default LCD TV for use as photo-editing PC monitor?

I have read on HWZ of people who use a LCD TV to double up as a PC monitor. So I thought this could be an alternative to LCD monitors.

I am just wondering if such LCD TVs are good enough for photo-editing usage? Does anybody use such a setup?

I do. I have a 26-inch Samsung LCD TV connected via VGA cable as my secondary monitor

photo editing depends..do you need color accuracy? In which case you be looking for something with at least IPS panel.

Yup, TVs are quite low res for their size...meaning the physical size of each pixel is quite big.

I got a dual LCD display for my desktop, pretty happy for graphics work.
The resolution is much better than with a single typical bigger LCD TV.
Prices for the panels are dropping, tempted to add another .

One of the panel is connected to a TV box for the occassional TV viewing.

Woah I need to learn to use the multiple quote function!

In your experience, does a monitor calibrator work equally well on a TV monitor?

If I weren't going for a LCD TV, I would most likely go for a IPS or other non-TN panel. Then there are TVs with IPS panels. Are they similar in quality to IPS monitors?

Large pixel size could be a problem! Though I suppose I don't have space to put anything larger than say 26"? (I currently do have a heavy 19" CRT on the desk :P)
