Default help to recommend DVD player with DivX and USB

Am looking to get a DVD player with DivX, and the ability to play files on a USB thumbdrive too.

    Any good recommendations?

    Thanks!

this is what I use over in Melbourne. got it coz JB Hifi were willing to throw it in at cost for me, and it was able to do upscaling to 1080p. so... yeah.

For video quality and durability, you can't go wrong with Pioneer products. My Pioneer DVD player is at least 3 years old, and it's still alive and kicking. My Pioneer LD player is more than 10 years old and it's still alive and kicking also.

Two out of three responses recommend Pioneer! That says something.

I managed to drop by Harvey Norman in Singapore one day but saw only the Pioneer DV500. There were plenty of Philips and some Samsungs though. JB hifi is mainly Australian?

A PS3 can do all that plus gaming. con: expensive.

Hey I haven't really looked into the ability to play subs. But it's definitely useful for foreign content.

Actually I think I would have also considered a networked media tank like the Popcorn Hour but I don't see myself utilising it enough eg daily or fully (all the codecs, functions and connectivity).

    My vote is for Panasonic.
Some of the high-end DVD players use Panasonic mechanism and chip solution.

If you're on a budget, go for Hyundai

I have three DVD players at home. Two Pioneers and one Panasonic. There are certain disks that Panasonic won't play, but the Pioneers will play virtual every disk I load in.

By the way, Sony DVD players are the worst. My brother-in-law has one and it won't play original disk even.
