I was just looking at the specs of the DA L 18-55 kit lens:
http://www.pentax.jp/english/imaging.../k-m/spec.html and comparing it with the existing DA 18-55 kit lenses: http://www.pentax.jp/english/imaging/digital/lens/ The DA L 18-55 is 11 elements in 8 groups. Same as the version II kit lens that comes with the K20D. The original kit lens is 12 elements in 9 groups. Looks like they based the new kit lens on the version II. Nice! ![]() |

Yeah, saw this at Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax K-Mount Page too. Hope it'd have similar optical performance as the Kit II

Not sure if the new DA L lenses incorporate Quick Shift as it hasn't been mentioned.
Also, there are NO distance markings on the focus ring. Anyway unless you buy the K-m, you can't get the DA L lenses separately. From the Pentax Press Release: The smc PENTAX-DA L 18-55mmF3.5-5.6AL and smc PENTAX-DA L 50-200mmF4-5.6ED lenses will be marketed only as a part of the PENTAX K-m Lens Kit or PENTAX K-m Double Zoom Kit.

I think the DA L lens does not have the Q-shift.
"In order to keep weight and price as attractive as possible, Pentax has adjusted the construction of these zoom lenses. Unlike other Pentax lens series these two lenses are equipped with synthetic bayonets and do not the Pentax Quick-Shift focal system." http://www.dpreview.com/news/0809/08...xdallenses.asp |
