Default Indonesia

Medan is a bustling city with many developments, but being a lone foreigner, it tends to draw additional attention to myself. However, while searching for dinner, I can't resist exploring and grab a quick street photography around where I stay and took a couple of grab shots.

Medan streets at night.

Hey CYRN, you are in Indonesia already?
And looks like you've found the Sate (Satay) seller

Will you be travelling to other part of Indonesia or stay in Medan?

Just a side note, always remember... In Indo it's not as safe as in Singapore. Do be careful bringing your camera around. Other than that, you'll find Indonesia is a very beautiful country

Yup.. already in Medan, that was my first night and I got lost... the map here isn't reliable . Will be going to Rengat in Nov.

I'll mostly be in Medan but will hop all around Indonesia from time to time. Hope to use this thread like some sort of photo blog.

I know it's not as secure as Singapore, so I only bring my LX3, at least it doesn't look that obvious. Of course it's already screaming "I'm not local".... cuz I dun see street photogs in Medan so far... not even one with camera bags.

Yeah, I think I never see any street photographer in Indo (maybe due to the risk of getting mugged ).

Btw, do let me know if you're keen on visiting Bandung during year end. I'll be going back home during that period..

thanks! I'll see if my schedule fits.

Well, for street photography, I feel that the people here are wary of cameras, mabbe it's due to it being unusual for someone to tote a cam around.

Anyway, some more pics...

Had my dinner yesterday, ordered a coke... and to my surprise... that bottle is juz 193ml!

And they had to give me a BIG glass to emphasis how small the bottle is.

My "simple" dinner.

I Just luv the lighting and the symmetry

Found Singapore here too... well... not what you think tho...

Such road side stalls are very common here... but to me, they are gems that Singapore lost in the progress to be clean and healthy.

Apologies for the images being bland...All pics are straight off my LX3.. no processing less resizing.

I love looking at every single of your shots, CYRN. It makes me want to go back so bad!!!!

*sigh* Still have to wait till CNY comes before I can go back. If you've never been to Lake Toba, I suggest you plan for a trip down. 2N is the minimum you will want to. There is a small town which you will pass by, it's called Pematang Siantar. Stop for a meal, you don't have to stay a night there it's too small (anyway, that's my hometown ^_^). If you need any detail, feel free to drop me a PM.

I do plan to go Lake Toba.. but somewhere next year. I'm currently up to my neck with my work.

I last visited Lake Toba about 20 years ago. and I still remember the lovely place as if I was there yesterday... definitely a place I'll visit.

TWENTY YEARS!!! I was a teenager back then, my oh my. Actually, I haven't been there for almost 10 years now. And to think that it's just an hour drive away from home.

Oh yeah, the electricity supply in Indonesia is crappy. Make sure you are on laptop while doing your work or have a UBS if you are on PC. You won't want to lose your work.
