nice. there are quite a few Bali posts lately, but I feel you have captured new perspectives that was absent in the others. The first few posts have very vivid colours. Generally quite consistent quality.

i'm now relooking at your thread thru a different computer with calibration, and it seems that i have a significantly different feel now or that a second look really does see more. the colors are natural and lovely. the green are lush. the objectives are clear, somewhat looks less clustered on a 2nd look. as already mentioned of the new perspective and to put it in a more direct manner, you have a strong representation of the local culture there. a word i would say "homely".
i would now say that it has now relit my interest in bali, and not in any patronising way, honestly, i think you have captured something i didn't know i'm seriously missing out and this is so much better than mine. i chanced upon the local market of klungklung (lost my way) being the only foreigner there, have a great and cheap mutton soup so much cheaper and yet so much tastier than all the ubud food. but i didn't have a good shot there due to non-photographic companion, super hot weather and the wish/need to get to the sunset destination. my only concern is where and when i can get cool weather without much rains. perhap you can share that abt kintamani. The photos are very impressive.
I'll be off to Bali next week. I think may be I should bring my golf set instead of my camera+lenses+laptop+EHD..... ![]() Where were you taking the volcanos and sunrise photos? The monkey didn't look very friendly I will mainly staying in Ubud (at a friend's house). Is the market place far from there? EF |

Kintamani is above sea level, so the weather is pretty cool during morning and evening, typical mountain weather. We use it as the launch pad to cover Batur region and central Bali, and also because my guide stays there ... ![]() As long you avoid the wet season, it's quite dry. iirc wet season starts end Oct. I refer to LP on the wet and dry seasons Last edited by sweeper; 31st October 2008 at 05:40 PM. |

Thanks. Vaolcanos and sunrise - it's Mount Batur and Lake Batur It's one of the most famous tourist spot in Bali ![]() But you must climb it with a guide, the charge should be ard USD 40. You start the climb around 4am and reach the summit for sunrise around 6am after that you can continue to visit the crater before you descend Monkeys ... These monkeys are friend already, wait till you see the monkeys from Ulu Watu. I think some CS's (Zoosh 's ? ) Bali thread have some very detail description on these monkeys ... The local market I went is in Kintamani, they have it every 3 days and they change location around the area. If you stay in Ubud, can ask the locals for the Denpasar local produce market (I miss this one) It's 1 hour away and should be bigger and better than the one in Kintamani. As usual, just rem to reach there early, to catch the morning buzz Not sure if Ubud have any though (be sure to tell them it's not the tourist market ...) When in Ubud, try to watch the Legong dance in the palace (Monday) or water palace (Tuesday) quite worth the ticket Hope this helps ![]() |
