I can say its 100% lucky encounter. This is how I usually approach my subjects, move in slowly in small steps in zip-zap manner until I reached a distance where I think I can take a decent shot of my subjects. Except of the pacific swallow's shot, the rest all taken @ 500mm focus lenght with or without 1.4x TC.

Wonderful collection. Extremely lucky to get shots of the babies huh? I only managed to capture a Yellow-Vented Bulbul juvenile.
