There's this photo of a man holding a 4D ticket which read "0501,sat $1 big" I'm surprised that the number came out on sunday.
To finish the wine tasting.
Organiser ( Big Organisation don't Listen) always win.
If I'm son of a King of certain country, then my complain will be heard.
Since i'm staying in a HDB flat and a lowballer...... too bad.
Most of the photographers are very positive even their photos didn't win?
Speak in your own TRUE heart!
Is ALL the winning photos qualify to win? Please compare to the other countries Marathon Winning Photos. You understand what I mean.
BTW.... I'm not feeling jealous or ego or sour..... just feel unjust.
In the past I joined several types of competitions ( Designing, Illustrations, animation and video )
I've won some... but I lost more.
Ratio like 3 Win : 7 Lose
I've never really complain this much.... this marathon has draw the last straw from me ( and some other photographers who stand beside me)
ha. are you sure or not, just now i was looking at the past windows vista wallpaper competition because i wanted to show somebody some of the winning entries, was looking for link (which didn't work, incidentally) and you were
a leopard never changes its spots.
Some thoughts on so-called competitions:
1. You play by others' rules. For those who say that you dont subscribe to anyone's standards but yours - and that there is no such thing as good or bad, or that art is anything and everything - then if you go for competition, you are a hypocrite. And in my dictionary, a hypocrite is one who says one thing and do another, or vice versa, or are different at different points in time, ie inconsistency. So rule no. 1 for competition, play ball, ie if you know where and what and whether its a ball at all. (Also, of course if your are Singaporean you got no choice, if you are not the ball yourself.)
2. Everyone play for their own gains. Especially the competition organisers as they are in total control. No one seeks your good, but only their own. (If anyone do seems to care, then it is incidental, and will be hyped up for marketing purposes.) Don't be naive to think Canon is promoting you or cares for you and your tons of effort. They only care for your money. They are out and out shamelessly to promote themselves, and if a little - or big - controversy helps, then all the better. And so if some newbie wins and gets attention, would it not encourage more to be newbies? The same applies to you too. If you dont gain, don't play. And if you compromise who you are, what you say, and what you stand for, for just gains, then you are a prostitute, again in my dictionary.
3. One Winner, Many Suckers. This can be an alternative summary of the free market actually. Except that some theorist will tell you that there are other competitions too, and as life is about winning, then you must keep on competing, and be thick-skinned over and over again, until you get that one winner, and then you have a life, and have arrived. And being a sucker many many times over is not only worth the price, it, but is the only way to win. I think you are a bigger sucker to believe this crap. (But, really, is there an alternative?)
