I use the oldest version

soft @f2.8
but gets decently sharp @f4 and very sharp @f5.6
lovely colours too

PS- I haven't used any of the Nikon/Canon equivalents so can't really compare though...

this piece of glass is quite ex right?
iirc its price is rather close to Nikkor AFD 80-200 f2.8.

but sample pics sure rocks.

i wonder how it stands pixel peeps wide open at 70 and 200mm.

don't find my copy sharp at f2.8 though

mine gets sharper only at f4 and becomes uber sharp at 5.6

for this range,
IQ drops remarkedly at around 135mm.
do try it.
on the contrary, was not like that for my earlier AFD 80-200.

imo, i need it to be sharp at 80 and 200mm wide open.
tats why i am going for the 2.8 glass.
but i am sure as long dun pixelpeep, its actually ok.
