Just a thought on CD player.
Are there any good Blu-ray player that can double up as a good CD player ? or
do I need a separate CD player plus a blu-ray player for movies ?.
Is music going to be multi-channel in the future ?.
    What are your thoughts ?.
I currently own a few new gears and is deciding if I should keep my few years old Pioneer DVD player (with SACD) for a stand alone CD player to match my gear.
Currently setup will include the Yamaha 3900 Receiver, Definitive Mythos STS, Definitive Mythos 10 center, Mission rear surround for a 5.1 setup.
    Any suggestions?.

    Think about it bro
so many features in one single box, how can it sound as good as a CD player...
I keep my Marantz SA 7001 KI signature for music.
In a few months, the Oppo BD 83 will be out, that may sound 'decent' relative to other BR players.

    Dennis,

Told you liao, get a separate CD transport for your music and stick to the BDP-S550 for Blu Ray.

My old faithful Pioneer PD-T07A (110V) Japan version still works like a charm.

What I meant is even if it is released there is no shop that will sell this player locally

    I agree.

Most Pioneer CD/DVD/Blu-Ray players are built-to-last. I bought my first Pioneer DVD player 9 years ago, it is working fine and never give me problem. My Pioneer Elite PD-65 CD player (bought from the US) has been with me for about 15 years and it is still 'alive and kicking'.

As for the sound, I find most Pioneer players transparent and clean. Some people may find the bass a bit lean. If you are a heavy bass freak, go for either a Marantz or Technics (Panasonic) players.

Another very good CD player to recommend is Nakamichi Dragon CD player (if you can find one). It is one of the best classic CD players in the 90s.

Don't worry, SLT technologies and some enterprising chaps will bring in the Oppo player. Plus there will be other options, stay tuned.

Yeh second round of test almost done liow.
There is still one thing that bugs me, I believe the DVD is region locked and because of that I can't replace my current DVD player completely as I still have multi region disk.
Looking for blu ray machine that is not DVD region locked.
Maybe wait for the Sony 560 and see how.

This probably does not qualify as hifi.

But it is convenient and probably more of it to come.

Anyone using the Sony NAS E35 6GB Giga Juke Box ?

Personally I don't find my Marantz heavy on the low-end. It's an antique 63SE, and tuned by KI.
