Default Live View and metering on D90

Planning to get a D90 soon but I have a few questions regarding this baby. Pls only answer only if you have tried it out. By the way I'm a D80 user.

1. Anybody compared the AF speed between D90 and D80? any difference?
2. I'm on the issue of metering with AI/AI-S lenses, I know for sure the D90 can't meter using the normal method (viewfinder). But using liveview...can the camera give a exposure setting WHEN those lenses are mounted? Or would the aperture and shutter setting be displayed as dashes in liveview mode? Cause i have old lenses and the fact that D300 can meter these lenses is pulling me away from D90 (more $$$...)
3. Any other advantage the D300 has over D90 OTHER than 6fps/rugged body/controls/CF card/14bit raw?

THANKS!!!

1. Was out shooting with some people with D80 some time back. They found the D90 to AF faster too.

2. I don't have AIS lens to try out, so I can't answer this question.

3. You missed out two more: the 51-point AF + 1005-pixel 3D colour matrix metering. The D90 sticks with the older 11-point AF and a smaller 420-pixel version of the matrix metering.

So any D90 users here with old AI/AI-S or CZ lenses can use the d90 liveview mode to meter?

Thanks, but I've already scoured all the major reviews online including dpreview and have read to death about them BUT none of them state anything about showing the exposure metering using LIVE VIEW mode when manual lenses are used. I even downloaded the pdf D90 manual file to read already.

I'm hoping anyone in CS have both D90 and those old lenses and have actually tried them out to share with me whether this method works at all.

If possible, it would be best if any kind boon lay Cser would meet up with me and allow me to try it out with my current manual lenses.

Thanks again to all who have replied!

Actually hor, since you have lens to start with liao, why not chiong the D300 body-only? It's around 2k, which isn't that huge of a difference compared to selling your older lens (if you want to), get the D90 either body-only or with kit, and then stock up on AFD/AFS lens all over again. Unless the D-Movie function is pulling you towards the D90 camp...

I don't stay in Boon Lay but in Bukit Timah. PM me if you don't mind meeting me around the western part of Singapore this weekend...

Ok...thing is my digital setup is a D80, 18-200vr and 50 f1.8, whilst my film setup is Nikon FE2, 50 f1.8 and 35-70 f3.5. So the main draw for me using a D300 is i can use both my film and digital only lenses. But I was thinking IF the D90 can give a metering value in liveview mode, will it do the same thing for my manual lenses?

For the price, D300 is much more $$$ than a D90 for me. So, the D90 is a big draw in terms of budget.

Didn't have an AiS lens with me to test, but I taped up the contacts of a Sigma 24/1.8... Nope, it doesn't meter with LV. You can't even get into LV in A mode. Only mode which allows LV is M. However, there is auto exposure if you shoot video.

I can understand for the video part cause video works with any lens. You mentioned LV is allowed only in M mode for your Sigma...but no metering? What was displayed on the LCD, no settings?
