Hi guys, has anyone had experience with the Sigma 20 F1.8? I was wondering if its an acceptable choice if I'm going for lens speed. I've read some substantially poor reviews about the 20mm at F1.8, however, their sample pics always didn't look that bad. They're both priced about the same too, considering that the 50mm 1.8 is relatively cheap, I'm wondering if I should get 2 lenses instead of the zoom.. Any thoughts please?

I think you should listen to personal review, cos they have use those lens before. Since you are considering 20mm and 50mm, why not consider 30mm f1.4. It's faster, and I have read more positive review than negative review on this lens.

30mm F1.4 doesn't seem wide enough on a 1.6X crop, sorta. I need to do full body shots indoors.

I using a 30mm f1.4... a very fast lense in low light.. I use that for most of the wedding shoot... when shooting without flash... focus shot on in low light...

sigma 20mm 1.8 is a bit soft at 1.8 .. but it's really awesome if u do a lot wide angle work and really need the dof...
go see andrew hefter's work for his amazing use of sigma 20mm 1.8 http://andrewhefter.com/index.html (that main page was shot with his 20mm at 1.8 wide open)
