Plan to use it on 5D Mark 2.

from my knowledge, tehre is no word on a mk2 version of this lens.
are you thinking of the 24mm f/1.4 mk2?

While there are speculations that a mark2 will be released in near future, there aint any official words on it and i think you should just buy it if you need it now. Its a stellar performer on the 5D. As for if it can out resolve the high megapixels 5Dmk2..it still remains an unknown, but personally i feel thats not a big issue at all. Try searching for information on how this lens match up with the 1Dsmk3 to have a rough idea of its performance on the 5Dmk2.
